Copper from Riddarhyttan was well known for its high quality. The copper was extracted from the ore by a process that was to be known as "The Swedish Method". The earth here is black and sterile due to copper-rich slag. The remaining constructions are unique in Sweden. |
| Trail and museum |
| There is a 5 km sign-posted
trail around the area. You can visit a small apartment-museum that has
been prepared in the old engineers house. The area is always open. Guided
tours can be booked at Ulla Fredriksson, 0222-133 30. For further information contact the Tourist Information Office in Skinnskatteberg, 0222-450 45. |

| The copper works lie south east of Riddarhyttan community and is well sign posted. Turn off route 68 towards Centrum. |

| The Waloon Smiths |
| Maj-Britt Nergård from Riddarhyttan has written a suite of novels about the Waloonian immigrants that came to Sweden during the 17th century. The basis for the novels is her own ancestry, church records and other documents from the 17th and 18th centuries. |
